Activities

Life Beyond
the Classroom

The clubs they join, the performances they give, the competitions they enter — this is where many children discover what they are truly capable of.

Clubs & Enrichment

Something for Every Child

We offer a minimum of four to six structured clubs each term. Every club has a staff lead, a meeting schedule, and clear outcomes — these are not free-time activities, they are enrichment.

Computer Club

Coding, digital projects, and creative computing for students who want to go further than the regular computer science lessons. Outcomes are showcased each term.

Grade 3 and above

Art Club

Drawing, painting, and mixed media in a relaxed but purposeful creative space. Student artwork is displayed around the school and celebrated in assemblies.

All ages

Drama Club

Improvisation, scripted performance, and stagecraft — building confidence, communication, and presence in children of every personality type.

Grade 3 and above

Reading & Writing Club

For children who love words. Writing workshops, reading circles, book discussions, and student-produced stories that are genuinely worth reading.

Grade 3 and above

Science Club

Experiments, projects, and investigations that go beyond the classroom syllabus. Curiosity is the only entry requirement.

Grade 3 and above

Debate Club

Structured argument, critical thinking, and the art of persuasion. Producing children who can think on their feet and articulate their ideas with confidence.

Grade 5 and above
Athletics & Sport

Active Bodies, Competitive Spirit

Every student participates in at least two physical education sessions per week. PE is planned and purposeful — not a break from learning, but a different kind of learning.

Inter-class and inter-house competitions are organised every term, and we participate in Kitwe zone sports events and inter-school competitions where available.

No student is excluded from physical activity without a medical note. Sport is not optional — it is part of a complete education.

  • Minimum two PE sessions per week for every student
  • Inter-class competitions each term
  • Participation in Kitwe zone sports days
  • Dedicated sporting equipment, checked before every session
  • No child excluded from sport without medical grounds
Performing Arts & Music

The Annual Concert Is a Big Deal

Our annual school concert and prize-giving is one of the most important events on the Shalva Academy calendar — and one of the highlights of the year for families. It is not switched on six weeks before the date and forgotten the rest of the time.

Music, drama, and performance are embedded in school life throughout the year. Student writing, artwork, and creative output is displayed visibly around the school and celebrated in assemblies — because the child who shines on stage matters just as much as the child who tops the class.

"The child who struggles in the classroom may shine on the stage. Our job is to make sure they get the chance to find out."
