The clubs they join, the performances they give, the competitions they enter — this is where many children discover what they are truly capable of.
We offer a minimum of four to six structured clubs each term. Every club has a staff lead, a meeting schedule, and clear outcomes — these are not free-time activities, they are enrichment.
Coding, digital projects, and creative computing for students who want to go further than the regular computer science lessons. Outcomes are showcased each term.
Grade 3 and aboveDrawing, painting, and mixed media in a relaxed but purposeful creative space. Student artwork is displayed around the school and celebrated in assemblies.
All agesImprovisation, scripted performance, and stagecraft — building confidence, communication, and presence in children of every personality type.
Grade 3 and aboveFor children who love words. Writing workshops, reading circles, book discussions, and student-produced stories that are genuinely worth reading.
Grade 3 and aboveExperiments, projects, and investigations that go beyond the classroom syllabus. Curiosity is the only entry requirement.
Grade 3 and aboveStructured argument, critical thinking, and the art of persuasion. Producing children who can think on their feet and articulate their ideas with confidence.
Grade 5 and aboveEvery student participates in at least two physical education sessions per week. PE is planned and purposeful — not a break from learning, but a different kind of learning.
Inter-class and inter-house competitions are organised every term, and we participate in Kitwe zone sports events and inter-school competitions where available.
No student is excluded from physical activity without a medical note. Sport is not optional — it is part of a complete education.
Our annual school concert and prize-giving is one of the most important events on the Shalva Academy calendar — and one of the highlights of the year for families. It is not switched on six weeks before the date and forgotten the rest of the time.
Music, drama, and performance are embedded in school life throughout the year. Student writing, artwork, and creative output is displayed visibly around the school and celebrated in assemblies — because the child who shines on stage matters just as much as the child who tops the class.
These anchor events are fixed at the start of each academic year and communicated to families in advance. They are not optional — they are part of what makes Shalva Academy a community.
From Baby Class to Grade 7, there is a place and a programme for your child at Shalva Academy.
